Description:

Serial ATA is the next generation storage interface standard for PC’s, designed to replace the Ultra ATA parallel interconnect cable (80 conductor) with a much smaller, more flexible serial design. Generation I and II implementations transfer data at 1.5Gb and 3.0Gb / second respectively.

Spectra-Strip's family of cables are designed for SATA Generation I and II compliance levels. All incorporate our 2 pair 100 ohm SKEWCLEAR ™ technology to deliver the cleanest signal over maximum cable lengths. In pair skew is critical to the accurate control of high speed serial signals. Excessive in pair skew will cause EMI, crosstalk, and loss of signal. Data pair shielding, how it is controlled and applied throughout the bulk cable and cable assembly manufacturing process dictates the cable assembly success or failure. What is also critical to consider is what happens to the pair shields at the termination point in the connector. If these shields are to unravel for any reason, the impedance discontinuity caused by this will reflect signal energy backwards and forwards, causing crosstalk, signal loss, and EMI, all significant problems at SATA data rates. Spectra-Strip's SKEWCLEAR ™ SATA data pairs are precision wound with spiral wrap aluminum / polyester plus an additional heat sealed clear polyester to ensure that the shield does not unravel in the termination. All constructions are jacketed with SpectraFlex ™ Lead Free PVC jacketing for optimum cable flexibility and conformance to emerging environmental standards directing the removal of lead from all electronic products.
